Join us at our 424 West Main Street showcase museum, the Andrews Homestead, for a Historical Christmas. We’ll be opening our, circa 1760, building to the public to show the Homestead all decorated for the Holiday. Santa will be there to greet all. 4:00 – 8:00 pm on Saturday & Sunday, December 11 & 12 Children are welcome. Beverages will be served. Admission is free – donations greatly appreciated.

MERIDEN’S SERGEANT YORK
Meriden Historical Society President Martha Colaresi tells the story of a Maine farm boy who adopted Meriden as his home town, joined the army in 1943 and became one of the city’s most highly decorated World War II heroes, earning media acclaim as “Meriden’s Sergeant York.”
This program is in co-sponsored by the Meriden Historical Society and the Meriden Public Library. The program is free and open to the general public.

CONVERT YOUR PHOTOGRAPHS, SLIDES, HOME MOVIES & VIDEOS TO DIGITAL FORMAT
As a service to the community and a fundraiser to the Society, the Meriden Historical Society is offering to send your home movies, VHS videotapes, photographs slides and even music to Innovative Document Imaging (http://idiimage.com/) to be digitized. We will be collecting media to be digitized from May 8th until June 8th.
You can drop off your media on Wednesdays at our Bernice Morehouse Research Center (1090 Hanover Avenue in South Meriden) starting Wednesday, May 8th between 2:00 pm and 3:45 pm.

Your no longer needed, gently-used clothing, linens, jewelry, shoes, accessories (such as belts and purses), and small household goods can raise funds for us. We have teamed up with Savers Stores and their fundraiser program. Savers will pay us 20 cents per pound of soft goods and 5 cents per pound of hard goods we bring them so PLEASE think of us when you clean up your closets.
2 MERIDEN-MADE WILCOX & WHITE PUMP-ORGANS ARE LOOKING FOR A GOOD HOME.
We have 2 extra Meriden-made Wilcox & White organs. Both are beautiful but need to be refurbished, as they are not in a working order. We already have an organ on display at the Homestead and have no room to display the additional two.
If you are interested, either of the two is available for a small donation. Please call us (203-639-1913) to arrange a pickup time.

Lori Raguckas and John Sullivan (who is not even a member) have been my painting buddies for about a week, and I couldn’t have asked for better! I can’t thank you both enough, for your time, energy and talent, not to mention how we solved all the world’s problems while slinging our paintbrushes!

If you did not know, Lesley is out membership chairperson. She has been working diligently at the Andrews Homestead for the past few years, making sure that our museum is well cared for, as well as keeping our membership in apple-pie order.
