SPECIAL EXHIBIT: THE NAPIER COMPANY
EXHIBIT and SHOW & TELL
SUNDAYS IN OCTOBER AT THE ANDREWS HOMESTEAD
Once again we will open our showcase location at the Andrew’s Homestead, 424 W. Main St, Meriden, CT (between Ben Franklin School and McDonalds) Sundays October 4, 11, 18 and 25, 2009 Â 11:00 am – 3:00 pm
THE NAPIER COMPANY is our featured exhibit. On display are banks, bar ware, advertisements smoking related paraphernalia, jewelry, and other collectibles from the early beginnings of the company until it ceased its operation in 1999.
Bring along your favorite Napier items to share with the society and with the visitors who will be there. A special section has been set aside to showcase those “one-day” items. Alternatively, if it’s jewelry, you could simply wear it. We encourage loitering and story telling as well as sharing information and simply having a good time connecting through the rich manufacturing history of our city.
NOVEMBER MEETING: MERIDEN COOK-BOOKS – A MEMBERS ONLY POTLUCK SUPPER AT THE RESEARCH CENTER.
Thursday, November 12, 6:30 pm
You (and a spouse/friend) are cordially invited to participate in this fun-filled event. Recipes for dishes brought to the communal dinner should be out of any of Meriden’s cook books. Please call Lesley Solkoske at 203-440-3686 to co-ordinate (So we don’t end up with a meal consisting of 12 potato salad dishes.) Don’t own a Meriden Cook Book? – Not a problem – we have recipes we can share, just call Lesley. Ruth Borsuk will talk briefly about her Meriden Cook Book Collection (on display).
