Elementary
Our Museum Educator Classroom Visits bring engaging, curriculum-based history lessons directly to your students. Aligned with Connecticut’s Grade 4 and 5 social studies standards, these interactive programs explore key themes in local and state history through hands-on activities and primary sources. We are happy to visit your classroom, or, if you are part of a homeschool group, you are welcome to bring your students to the Museum for a guided experience. Lesson topics include the Age of Exploration and mapmaking, Tories and Patriots during the Revolutionary War, the Westward Expansion, leadership and local government, immigration; segregation, Native American history, and questions of belonging, including the history and impact of Indian boarding schools.

Secondary
Guest Speaker
For secondary school students, we are available as guest speakers on topics of your choosing in American History.
Traveling Trunks
This program offers independent, curriculum-based experiences covering the period from the post – Civil War era through 2010, with artifacts, digital resources, and ready-to-use lesson plans to support teaching a variety of historical periods. We do require you to schedule at least 3 weeks in advance. There is no charge for the trunks. We thank the Meriden Foundation for providing the funding to create them.
